 I remember the first time I truly noticed a hummingbird. I was sitting on my back porch early one morning, coffee in hand, and the air was completely still. Suddenly, a flash of emerald green hovered in front of my hanging fuchsia. It was so small it seemed unreal—like a floating jewel. I sat perfectly still as it drank from each bloom, its wings humming like a tiny motor.

Since then, I’ve added more feeders and native plants to my yard, and the visits have grown. What started as casual interest has become a deep connection. Hummingbirds, to me, symbolize persistence, hope, and beauty in motion. Every time one appears, I take it as a reminder to pause, appreciate the moment, and stay curious.

I keep a journal now of sightings, noting the first arrival each spring, and which safe hummingbird mix they seem to favor. It’s become more than a hobby—it’s a seasonal rhythm that brings joy and stillness to my life.

My background is in animal husbandry. Chicken farming if you could believe it, I started when I was 18. Several years in the industry taught me about bird health, dietary needs, environments, lighting, weather, and every detail of the business from hatch to new lay. Leading teams and teaching the next generation of farmer what and why we do what we do for our flocks.

I enjoyed it for a long time, but the sun will always set. New days and new adventures come, and we must embrace them with hope. I'm actually still working here with friends I made in the industry. Penny and Barbara are amazing people that share my passions. 

We are so excited to provide this service feeding hummingbirds outside of our own. We can't even believe the orders that we've gotten so far! Thank you all for believing in us and thank everyone for supporting a small business that came from big dreams!
